Pets in towns.
I think it would be quite cool to be able to take your pets into towns. Possibly have the option to toggle them on and off like you can with capes and helmits.
What dose everyone els think of this?

It is something people work on - raising a pet. Similar to getting fancy armour to show off, people find an animal they want and go to the trouble of raising it, I can see how it'd be nice to have them show. Heck, I imagine people would love to see weapons in town too. Of course, with the detailed animations on some weapons it would get laggy, but a pet is pretty basic skins, and really angular - they're low-poly anyway, so they shouldn't matter too much.

I admit I'm tempted to show off my pet, but I have to vote no. I've been in other games that allowed you to take your pet with you everywhere. Too much lag... I mean really bad lag. It was frickin' annoying to walk around town and not be able to see anything with all the pets running around. In towns, they do nothing but take up bandwidth.

While i admit allowing pets into towns and outposts would increase pride in one's self and it wouldn't cause too much lag the problem is, a Swampgirl Inez said, that the place would be filled with with pets everywhere. If you ruled a city would you let huge spiders, big cats and wolves in?

If the guy with the 12 foot tall killer chicken says it comes in, and you are a guard making 2 shillings a day, do you argue with him?

back about a year ago i played star wars galaxies. my main proff was a creature handler, so naturally it prided me to have the largest pets. problem was, as soon as i popped out my awsome bol named clyde, everyone else would too. laagg central. and then there was the time i almost got banned for having my giant dino thingy ( dont even remember what it was called, but man was it huge. ) jump inside of the mos eisly cantina.
overall, pets cause problems in large groups of people. long way of saying it, but i said it.

This is exactly what I was talking about. I played SWG as well. Some players, depending on profession could own multiple pets. There was always the guy in Coronet City with three Rancors. Then next thing you know, everyone was running around with their Rancors. These things were about twice the size of a hydra. Mass chaos... in 2 frames per second. Oh joy.

i agree it would cause alot of lag. but atleast (anet if you are listening) make it to where we could customize our pets not just their name. i mean like elder scrolls 4: oblivion. you will be able to customize your horse with armor and everything. so i mean they could make some cool looking armor. i have seen screen shots and this looks really cool. and i mean again (anet if you are listening) this would encourage people to actually play pve with other chars instead of using henchmen. because they would want to show their cool looking pets off to other human players. and if you cant take pets into a town the only other place to show them off is outside of a town. so no do not let people take their pets into towns just simply give people a way to customize their pets.

It's simple. They don't go into towns because they have to wait outside, with the van. If they didn't watch the van, who's to keep some asshole from stealing it? You see? it makes perfect sense.
